Who Ansar Family is for, and what happens when you sign up.
New Muslims come first. We also work with Ansars, and with masjids, university Muslim student associations (MSAs) and Muslim organisations who want to welcome new Muslims well.
Yes. Ansar Family is for new Muslims and for people sincerely exploring Islam who want a clear place to begin and a respectful human connection.
You get short videos on the first steps on your own page. We look into your area and introduce you to a trusted community near you, and pair you with an Ansar where one is available.
Nothing. We are a nonprofit, and the dashboard, the content and the connection are free for every new Muslim.
Your Ansar
The local brother or sister who helps a new Muslim feel at home.
The Ansar were the people of Madinah who welcomed the first Muslims who came to their city. Today, an Ansar is a local Muslim volunteer who helps a new Muslim feel at home. Brothers are always paired with brothers, and sisters with sisters.
Not always. We always connect you to a community, and add a one-to-one Ansar wherever a local one is available. Your dashboard shows which you have.
Yes. Brothers are always paired with brothers, and sisters with sisters.
Usually not. Some Ansars are imams, scholars or counsellors in their working lives, but here their role is simply to be a friendly face and a peer who helps you find your footing. They don’t replace professional counsellors or formal Islamic study. If you have deep questions or need professional support, your Ansar can point you to the right local help.
Communities
The masjids, MSAs and Muslim organisations we introduce you to.
It is the name for mainstream Sunni Islam, followed by the great majority of Muslims worldwide. We only connect you to communities that follow it.
Each community is different. Yours may offer a welcome at the masjid, regular gatherings, useful resources, or an Ansar connection.
We are honest about what is available where you live: Ansar Family isn’t everywhere yet. If there is a masjid or Muslim organisation near you that you would love to see welcome new Muslims this way, invite them to partner with us.
Register your community and we will review it. Once approved, you get free tools to see every new Muslim and Ansar who comes to you, run monthly gatherings, send announcements, and add your own videos.
What we don’t do
We are the connection, not a replacement for real people.
No. Our content orients you and points you in the right direction. The learning itself happens in community, with real teachers.
No. We focus on connecting you with a local Muslim community and good people. We don’t provide financial aid or professional counselling. For Muslim mental-health support, the Naseeha helpline is there for you. For financial help, contact a trusted local masjid or community organisation.
